I wanted to write you

A nice poem-

About fireworks and

The fourth of July..

I remember standing with you

In that field,

My arms around your waist

And you leaning back into me.

It was one of the happiest moments

I’ve ever shared with you.

We were totally connected..

Almost as if it were only

You and me out there and

Those fireworks were just for us.

A declaration of our Love-

For everyone to see

And for us to feel.

So, yeah..

I was gonna write you a

Nice,

Sweet poem

But then it happened-

The Fighting,

The Crying and

The Devastating Realization.

Although,

It kinda looks like you

Might have gotten

That nice poem anyway..

Keeping Everything Lovely, Like You

I’m attempting to do my work in vain-

All I can think of are your lips.

Small yet Soft and Sweet

And they fit perfectly with mine.

My lips,

Hungry for yours,

Did not want to let go.

They have missed each other.

I try to focus but

Can still smell the deliciousness of

Your hair as we embraced.

Thirty days since I’ve held

You in my arms-

The longest time we’ve spent apart

In nearly four years.

My arms long to be wrapped

Around your tiny waist once more.

“We shouldn’t be so familiar,” you said.

But I disagree.

We should be this close;

In fact we should be closer.

Today,

Tomorrow

And the day after that.

And the day after that.

And…

Well, you get the idea.

I’m not going anywhere.

I will be waiting for

The day when our

Lips

Hands

Arms

And

Hearts

Can be intertwined again.

I passed by our old place today-

The cozy one bedroom apartment

That we used to call home.

It was a bittersweet moment

That caused my heart to get

Caught in my throat..

I was doing pretty good.

Or at least I was getting better at pretending

Not to think much of you..

Or us.

But now I’m missing all of it-

I’m missing you again.

If you’ve never experienced Love

You’re missing.

That is when you experience true heartache.

The memories of what it used to be

Only fuel the fire of your loneliness.

It is a double edged sword.

You feel lucky to have felt deep, true Love-

Yet you were teased by having it ripped away so quickly.

One cannot live off of memories alone.
